Cirque Du Soleil's Latest Debacle

As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of Cirque du Soleil! No, allow me to offer a correction: I'm a huge fan of the originality and ideals of Cirque before it became all corporate and money-hungry. Since that time, Cirque's shows and projects have most definitely lost their creative edge.

Let's take, for example, Cirque's latest endeavor...

Cirque du Soleil teamed up with Mircosoft earlier this year to help unveil the newest device for the Xbox, named Kintect. The premiere was "imagined by Cirque du Soleil," which apparently meant that they were just going to take songs and characters from their existing shows, chew them up together, and regurgitate it all over an arena. And that's exactly what they did.

The show left spectator's asking, "Why is this caveman gyrating on me?" and "What's the purpose behind that girl walking back and forth in the upside-down living room?" Sorry, folks, there doesn't seem to be any answers that shed light on that or any of the other ridiculousness that seemed to raise a mighty hand only to slap the spectators across their already confused faces.

Is this the end of a Cirque du Soleil era? And if so, what's next? Because it's apparent that Criss Angel, Elvis, and the Beatles aren't doing the trick (okay, maybe the Beatles).

Cirque du Soleil...my idol...is dying in front of my eyes. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go weep softly.
